Scharffen Berger Unsweetened Chocolate (Theobroma cacao). Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii) Shea butter contains vitamins A and E, and also has a high content of unsaponifiables and cinnamic esters, which have antimicrobial and moisturizing properties and provide protection from the UV rays of the sun. Shea butter is expeller pressed without the use of solvents. Ours is whole and unrefined, which means it retains the maximum amount of nutrients. Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus amygdalus) It consists mainly of oleic acid (69%), essential unsaturated fatty acids (25%), sterolins (.5 to 1%) and vitamin E (about 10 IU per ounce). A light nearly odorless oil, Sweet almond oil contains glucosides, minerals, and vitamins and is rich in protein. Cold expeller pressed. Apricot Kernel Oil (Prunus armeniaca) Apricot kernel oil comes from the large pits of apricots that yield up to 45% oil. Apricot kernel oil has 30% unsaturated essential fatty acid content. It is excellent for irritated and cracked skin. Cold expeller pressed. Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Acts as a free radical scavenger, and promotes soft and supple skin. Vitamin E oil is an emollient, anti-oxidant, and natural preservative. Rosemary Extract (Rosmarinus Officinalis) Contains antioxidants which are oil soluble. It is also a natural preservative. Cocoa Absolute (Theobroma cacao) This is pure cocoa extracted from roasted South American cocoa beans. Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita) Ours is distilled from peppermint grown in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. In aromatherapy, peppermint is cooling and stimulating, and also relieves headaches. Beeswax We use the natural golden form of beeswax, rather then the white bleached variety, for its beautiful sweet smell of honey.
